Major Accomplishments

Worked to implement
Primo, with many staff involved on the various project teams. In particular,
Mary Charles Lasater headed the Normalization Team.
- Migrated to the Java
client of our Unicorn Workflows modules. Some team members were very much
involved in the beta testing and served as Java trainers.

Increased the VU
e-Archive by adding History Department Baccalaureate Honors Theses and VU News
Service podcasts. Involved Cataloging Team members in metadata creation or
enhancement.
- Electronic Resource Librarian
created White Paper on Electronic Resources Management Systems.
- Preservation Librarian began
research for white paper on digital preservation.
- Improved mechanisms for
reporting and correcting problems with ejournal
access.
- Created 'etrials'
blog, for eresources being considered for
purchase

Worked on bibliographic
record import for large electronic sets such as 18th Century Collections
Online, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Gale Virtual Reference Library,
Cambridge Companions Online Collection, Oxford Digital Reference shelf and
others.
- Processed the
Peruvian collection of books purchased on Central bibliographer buying
trip
- Ventured into ordering Arabic
language materials
- Helped to automate the
receiving of the Brodart/McNaughton Leisure
Reading Collection materials
Personnel-related Accomplishments:
- Two book repair library
assistant positions were upgraded to preservation technicians.
- Hired for newly created
position, Eectronic Resource Librarian.
Staff Development-related:
- Developed a blog to
record and share Cataloging and Authorities Team information
Metadata Committee
Accomplishments:

Created improved
procedures for processing Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD’s) through
the recommendations of the ETD Project Team.
More than half of all theses are now submitted in electronic form. Reassigned most of the work of dealing with ETDs to the CAT team.
- Developed work-around
for series processing changes at the Library of Congress through the
recommendations of a Project Team.

Created a VU e-Archive
Application Profile Project Team to create consistent metadata standards for
the VU e-Archive
