- Give the patron a Kesler Library Information Sheet and Kesler Membership Card to fill out.
- Place the completed application card in the Kesler mailbox. If the person wants to mail the application in later, please give him or her an envelope with the Library’s address stamped on it (in folder with applications).
- The Kesler Circulating Library has a homepage on the web. If the patron is interested, please take the time to show him/her where it is. The homepage is the last link on our Divinity Library Homepage.
Important Note: If the person lives in Nashville and wants to come into the Divinity Library on a regular bases, they need to apply for a library use card/clergy card. A Kesler Circulating Library membership will not let folks into the library on a regular basis.
The Kesler Circulating Library is a through-the-mail loan service that provides access to a theological collection for ministers who do not have ready access to theological materials. Membership is open to any person engaged in ministry (or retired from ministry) in the continental United States or Canada. Clergypersons may be serving in local parishes with congregations or may be serving in new specialized types of ministry. The intent of the Kesler service is to provide materials for continuing education and ministry preparation, not to support academic progress toward a degree. This is why the loan limitation is two items at a time. Once the membership application form is completed, sent, and approved by the Kesler Circulating Library, a member may begin borrowing materials from the Divinity Library through postal mail.
