New Books Procedures

Purple flags -- Rush Items

Rush Items - Receiving -- Process Immediately

Note:  Reference books have a purple rush flag.   Process them along with the Green Flag books through Step 5.

Reserve books that have been processed as rush, usually have a purple rush flag and "reserves" written on an inserted slip of paper.   Process them along with the Green Flag books through Step 4.

Patron requests have a purple flag and usually a print-out with the patron's name.  When discharged, the message that the book is on hold should appear on the screen.  Place the book on the hold shelf arranged in alphabetical order by the patron's last name.  If the patron's name does not appear in a message on the screen (usually this means the hold was placed by a staff member), then charge the book to yourself, place the hold for the patron, dicharge the book, and place on the hold shelf with the patron's name.

Green Flags -- Divinity Books

New Books are brought down to the circulation area usually 3 to 5 times per week. They are placed on a booktruck which is then labeled "New Books".
