If the patron needs to buy a new card:
1) Get a blank card and the daily log sheet out of the money
drawer.
2) Ascertain how much money the patron wants to spend. The options are $1, $2,
$3, $4, $5, $10, $15, $20. If the patron desires a different amount, he must
go to Central. Payment must be made by cash, check, or credit card, not Commodore
Card.
3) Consult the Vendacoder Cheat Sheet to see how much money should be encoded
for the amount paid.
4) Enter the total payment, amount encoded, new card cost, and tax in the Vendacoder
section of the daily log sheet. Use the Vendacoder Cheat Sheet. Enter exactly
what is on the Cheat Sheet.
5) Select the programming card with value just beneath that which needs to be
encoded. Example: patron wants to spend $15. You will need to encode $13.13.
Select the $10 programming card.
6) Make sure the vendacoder says "hello." Insert the programming card
into the encoder and remove.
7) Press the button on the face of the encoder until it has reached the amount
you need to encode.
8) Put the new card into the encoder and remove.
9) Press the orange button to restore the "hello."
If the patron already has a card but wants to add value:
1) Get the daily log sheet out of the money drawer.
4) Enter the total payment, amount encoded, and tax in the Vendacoder section
of the daily log sheet. Use the Vendacoder Cheat Sheet. Enter exactly what is
on the Cheat Sheet.
5) Check the patron's vendacard to see how much value is already on the card.
6) Add the value already on the card to the value which the patron is buying.
For example: the patron's vendacard already has 40 cents on it. He wants to
spend $2. The amount he is buying is 1.83. Add this to the 40 cents already
on the card. You will encode $2.23.
7) Select the programming card with value just beneath that which needs to be
encoded. Example: patron wants to spend $15. Card currently has zero value.
You will need to encode $13.73. Select the $10 programming card.
8) Make sure the vendacoder says "hello." Insert the programming card
into the encoder and remove.
9) Press the button on the face of the encoder until it has reached the amount
you need to encode.
10) Put the patron's card into the encoder and remove.

If the patron wants a replacement for his or her defective vendacard:
1) Insert the card into the encoder to make sure it is really
defective.
2) Determine approximately how much money was erased from
the card.
3) Tape the defective card into the erased cards notebook. Write the amount
erased next to the card and ask the patron to print and sign his or her name
next to the card.
4) Initial next to the defective card and write today's date.
5) Get a new card with no value from the money drawer.
6) Select the programming card with value just beneath the amount to be encoded.
Example: $4.75 has been erased. Select the $4 programming card.
7) Make sure the vendacoder says "hello." Insert the programming card
into the encoder and remove.
8) Press the button on the face of the encoder until it has reached the amount
you need to encode.
9) Put the new card into the encoder and remove.
