Options from the VUPD

From either a campus phone or the emergency blue light, students may dial 1-8888 and ask for either the time of the next "Safe-trip" van pickup or an escort on campus.

Details

• These services are only available during hours of darkness.  The van runs from dusk to 2 a.m.
• The Safe-trip van makes 6 stops on Campus.  Essentially the route comprises the major student dormitories (Carmichael Towers, Morgan Circle, etc.) and the library.
• Escorts are given if the students are not going to a van stop (but the site is on campus) or if it is after 2 a.m. 
• Officers drive to the site to meet the student that made the request, but then the officers walk with the students to their destination.   (Presumably to cut down on "laziness" calls plus the fact that you cannot always get everywhere on campus in a car...)
• Escorts are not given if three or more students request the escort together.  Three or more students are considered a "safe" group.
