Please supply the following information as soon as you anticipate a major transfer:
1. Approximate TOTAL NUMBER of books to be transferred ___________________
2. Approximate LINEAR FEET of books to be transferred ______________________
(This number can be obtained dividing the total number of books to be sent by the average number of books in a foot of shelf space. See Annex Transfer Prediction for BV's as an example).
3. CALL NUMBER RANGE of books to be transferred_________________________
Before a transfer can begin, the following GUIDELINES should be discussed in a meeting between the Annex Stack Manager and the Liaison from the transferring library.
1. Books must be sent in call # order on yellow, messenger book trucks if possible.
2. A regular timetable/frequency should be established.
3. Records should be switched to the Annex Location before they arrive at the Annex.
4. Liaison and Stack Manager should establish good lines of communication at all points of the transfer, letting each other know as problems or concerns arise from each side of the transfer.
