Search OCLC for records of the journal title and export into Acorn. Refer to OCLC Searching for search strategies. If the record describes the journal only in its print version, export the record and edit according to procedures below. Or give to Eileen to create a new record.

To export add a 949 field to the OCLC record: In home position type:
99 949 |h DIV [F11]

Export record in home position: xpo [F11]

Warning: Electronic journals must be in the serials format. If the exported version is in the computer file format = MRDF, edit the record format found in the control tab by selecting SERIAL from the drop down menu. You will have to exit Acorn and re-enter before the change will take effect.

BIB TAB

Add an 007 field: c|br|dc|en|fu This signifies that the title is a computer file, accessed remotely, is multicolored, dimensions are unknown, and the sound is unknown. This is pretty standard coding but could vary.

Add or edit the material designator after the title in the 245 field. VU edits the field from computer file to electronic resource.

Add if missing a 500 field indicating source of title: Title from journal home page (viewed Feb. 8, 2000)

Add if missing a 516 field: Text (electronic journal)

Add if missing a 530 field: Also available in a print ed.

Add if missing a 538 field: Available electronically via the Internet.

Add if missing an 856 field for the url:

Verify that the record format is SERIAL .

Change date cataloged from NEVER to TODAY.

ALL VOLUMES TAB

Call number: format an LC call number if it is provided on the record. Shelf list to determine that is works in our catalog. If it does not have a call no., notify Eileen to assign one.

Adding Internet Library

Select Wizard "Add Volumes and Call Numbers"

Select the "Add Call Number" button located at the bottom of the record

Edit screen as follows:
