Security alarms show up on the Central Circulation board and on a board for VU Security. When these alarms go off for a non-security reason, it is important to:
1) notify VU Security that there is no emergency! VU Security will come out to check the problem unless they get a call as soon as the alarm goes off. Do this quickly by phone. There is a speed dial button for VU Security on the Circulation phone.
2) Notify Bill Hook. You may notify Bill by phone or e-mail after you have disarmed the alarm. While Bill gets a report the next day of any alarms set off, he prefers to be notified by his own staff prior to VU Security. If Security came out for the alarm, tell Bill and make clear whether the problem is resolved or not.
3) Notify Central Circulation. Sometimes they notify you about an alarm going off, but make sure you let them know when the problem is resolved.
Disarming Divinity Collection Development Alarm
If the alarm on the door to the Collection Development suite goes off, you can disarm it with the same code that you use on the main security system, and in the same manner when you turn off the alarm at opening.
Get the key to that area from the keybox if you need it to gain access. You will need to close the door ("clear the zone faults") for the alarm to turn off.
Disarming Central Reserves Alarm
This alarm should be turned off by a Central staff member. Please notify Laurentina Gray or Central Circulation immediately when this alarm is set off.

IF THE ALARM WILL NOT RESET/TURN OFF
Call Dewey James at 3-3498, or page at 923-4883. He will either reset it or turn the alarm box power off until it can be repaired. If Dewey is absent or does not answer, you will have to find another staff person who can turn off the power to the alarm box. Call Bill Hook (Circ speed dial button) and/or Norman Nash 2-7124.
If you have not already done so, call Central Circulation to let them know that there is no emergency and that you are trying to get the door reset.
