- Ask the patron if they are enrolled in a degree program or taking classes? If they answer "yes," they are not eligible for a local clergy card. He or she must purchase access privileges to the library from the Central Library Reception Desk, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- If the person answers "no" to question #1, ask: have you ever taken a course a course for credit at Vanderbilt? If the person answers "yes," he or she is eligible for an alum card that will give access to the whole library system. Send this person to the Central Library Reception Desk for a card, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- If the person answers no to both questions, then you may give an application to him or her. If the person has a business card, letterhead paper, or some other validation of his or her employment by a church or religious agency, then the person may leave that as verification of employment. The patron may wait if the Public Services Librarian is available, of they may choose to leave the application.
- If the application is left, put it in Sandra's box, and she will create a user record and mail the Patron Information Sheet to the person with instructions as to where and how to obtain the card. If the person wants to mail the application in later, please give him or her an envelope with the Librarys address stamped on it.
Important Note: If the person lives outside of Davidson County, you may want to mention the Kesler Circulating Library to him/her. This service loans books two at a time through the mail; the patron never has to come to the library.
