Members of the Davidson county Jewish community may receive access and borrowing privileges to the Divinity Library through our Jewish Community Card.
Applications are kept in the plastic magnetic pocket on the side of the reserves drawers.
- Ask: "Have you ever taken a course a course for credit at Vanderbilt?" If the person answers "yes," he or she is eligible for an alum card that will give access to the whole library system, which is better than the card we can give him for Divinity only. Send this person to the Central Library Reception Desk for a card, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m. for the Alumnus card.
- If the person answers no question #1, then you may give an application to him or her.
- If the application is left:
- Put the application in the Public Services Librarian's box, and she will create a user record.
- Tell the Patron that s/he will receive in the mail a Patron Information Sheet with instructions as to where and how to obtain the card.
- If the person wants to mail the application in later,
- please give him or her an envelope with the Library’s address stamped on it. The address stamp is usually on the little maroon shelf in the Infodesk area. There will also be blank envelopes on that shelf. The patron will only have to write in his/her return address.
Important Note: If the person lives outside of Davidson County they are not eligible. The only exception is that ordained rabbis or other Jewish clergy, may participate in the Kesler Circulating Library. This service loans books two at a time through the mail; the patron never has to come to the library.
